The forest of mendacity
We live in an era of fake news and alternative facts, when our leaders are lying to us. So, how can we tell truth from fiction? Fortunately, the Forest of Mendacity is here to help! Composed of a renegade grove of plastic Xmas trees rescued from imminent landfill, this is a place where lies are identified, and truth is restored. Inspired by the Tadasu no Mori, a Japanese sacred grove where truth is revealed. Featuring the lies by politicians about Brexit, lies by advertisers, lies by anti-science campaigners, lies told to children by their parents, and lies submitted by members of the public. And a lie detector test.
Multi-media installation presented at part of Art Park Space / BEAF Festival, Boscombe, April 2018.
